Take a look at the pictures, it is self-explanatory.
1. Slide the strain relief over the cord.
2. tighten it into the end of the fitting.
3. Tighten the screw in the strain relief (so that it is clamped to / against the cord).
Why would you use this part?
To reduce the pressure that the lamp (or lampshade) puts on the fitting.
Maximum cord diameter: 0.8 cm (0.31 inch).
