8 Edged bead, so called octagon, 1.4 cm.
At the front of the bead is a flat cut surface with 8 sides in the middle. The bead is ground at an angle from those edges. This creates an edge division into 8 facets.
The back of the bead tapers to a point. If you look into the bead from the front you will see an asterisk with 8 dots. The bead is 1.4 cm / 0.55 inch in diameter and 0.9 cm / 0.35 inch thick.
The bead has a hole on two sides in which pins can be inserted to connect the bead to other glassware. The beads come in a bag of 10 pieces.
